If you want to build a house, you have to meet several legal requirements first. This includes getting a license before you start the construction work. Getting a license is very important during construction. However, some people may opt not to get one. This may still work, but if you do so, you will face some consequences. Obtaining a license is essential because it will make your contractor honest. Also, inspections will be done to make sure that the house is built to standard. Thus, before you start any construction project, follow the steps below to apply for the City of Amarillo Building Permits.

Before you apply for the license, you must ensure that you have checked all the requirements you have to meet. Reviewing the requirements will help you not to miss anything. Also, the process will be quicker for you as you will not have forgotten anything. Thus, make sure you have the correct paperwork before you apply for the warranty.

After gathering all the needed documents, the next step is to submit them to the Department of Community Development. Here, they will be received and documented or added to the database of the Department. You should make sure that you have submitted the application accompanied by all other relevant paperwork. Failure to do so will lead to disapproval of your application. Hence, ensure that you include all the necessary documents in the application.

Your application will then be distributed to the appropriate departments so that it can be reviewed. This will, however, depend on the scope and complexity of the project at hand. The plan reviewer has to make sure that the plans that have been submitted meet all the city ordinances and codes. After this, you will receive a notice from the plan reviewer.

After two to three weeks, you will receive a notification from the inspector. The feedback you get will depend on whether you have some amendments to make or not. In case there are some resolutions to make, the application will not be approved. On the other hand, if you have met all the requirements, your application will be approved, and you will go to the next step.

If your application needs some amendments, it is wise to resolve the issues as soon as you can so that the process can continue. Usually, the process is put on hold until all the resolutions have been made. Hence, if you want your approval to be made fast, resolve any apparent issues as soon as possible.

If the license has been approved, you will be notified of the same. Also, you will be notified of the fees you are supposed to pay. Once you have paid the fees, you can pick your warranty between Monday to Friday starting from eight o'clock in the morning up to five o'clock in the evening.

Once you have picked your license, you can request for inspection. Usually, you are supposed to provide the license number for the inspection to be done. The inspector will then do the inspection and approve it. After final inspections, the Department will process all the documentation, and the license will be closed.
