Living in Wimbledon

By Helena Green

The property market in Wimbledon is booming again after a legendary year of tennis. This is an exceptionally attractive area with many of the more high-end properties in the Wimbledon village area. Over the summer thousands will visit the area, many coming just for the tennis fortnight.

During the grand slam competition some Wimbledon inhabitants will actually leave the area, renting out their homes for a premium - some to tennis players or their entourage. At this time of year it's not uncommon to see some of the tennis stars and their guests on the streets of the town, browsing the shops.

Buying a property close to the tournament grounds can be a very good investment as you can make an excellent profit renting it out. As well as the tennis players themselves there are many ardent fans who come to watch every day. With hundreds of matches being played on 19 grass courts there are many people involved in the competition who will be looking for accommodation.

Wimbledon village and town are great places to shop and socialize. There are a host of cafes and pubs to eat and drink in. The local community has a very friendly feel.

The village is filled with rows of redbrick homes and well established greenery. There are many lovely parks and local activities within the local community. Getting around is easy with on an exceptional transportation system.

Living on the edge of a major city like London has many advantages. It's easy to travel into the city if necessary and get to see some of the landmarks there. You can then just as easily travel home to the relative quiet of Wimbledon.

In Wimbledon, the properties are excellent. The gardens are unsurpassed and the amenities are spectacular. When the tennis on these aspects are rarely seen as everyone is watching the grand slam.

Wimbledon Common is a very large green area extending over land filled with tress and shrubbery great for walking, hiking or biking. This land amounts to over 1000 acres. This is as close as one can get to being in the country so close to the city.

Wimbledon Common is a highly preferred locality for families; parents are influenced by a particularly good school district as well as the proximity of the parks and the common. The common plays host to the famous windmill which you can visit.

The transport to Wimbledon is excellent. There are tubes, trams and buses serving the area with quick links to Waterloo, Clapham Junction and the City. You can get across the city very quickly and easily.
