There are several different types of rental housing available for those who are looking. Lofts have become very popular spaces for living for couples and singles without kids. Fishers IN rental apartments offers loft living. This type of housing offers lots of flexibility regarding interior design and the layout of the space. Additionally, lofts offer a sophisticated, classic, and relaxed environment.

Even though you may know what a loft is, you may not thoroughly understand the advantages and limitations common with this type of housing. A loft is the top story of a building that has only the roof above it. Many cities have converted commercial buildings for loft living. These buildings offer large open areas that are easily converted to living spaces. If you are interested in exploring this type of living there are some pros and cons you should consider.

There are many advantages to loft living. For instance, the ceilings are quite high which gives small spaces the look and feel of a spacious area. The ceilings are usually about 10 to 15 feet in height. Also, the ceilings make it easy to get creative when decorating offering many different options.

The loft apartment offers plenty of light that flows naturally through the large windows. The oversized windows offer a generous stream of natural light in the apartment that will brighten the entire loft. The lack of interior walls offers the perfect foundation for flexibility of layout and design. The freedom of no walls allows for creativity that is limitless.

The details that exist in the architecture of the industrial buildings is a very appealing feature. These features include exposed brick walls and the ductwork on the ceiling. These characteristics make commercial buildings attractive to folks who wish to create a home environment that is relaxed and chic. Ductwork and exposed brick are the very thing people incorporate in decorating the loft.

There are also some disadvantages to living in a loft apartment. One of the drawbacks is that the high ceilings and no walls cause even the slightest noise to be heard throughout the apartment. Sometimes noise will even echo through the space. However, some creative decorating strategies can help muffle the sound and look great.

Due to old construction, high ceilings, and large windows, heating and air conditioning costs can be quite steep. Another disadvantage is the limited or lack of storage space. In traditional apartments the walls house closets and cabinets to store things or hang things. Because lofts have no walls, they also have no storage. Again, this is an area that will take some creativity in decorating.

To reduce the sound of noise echoing through the loft, decorate with a lot of textiles. For example, using upholstered furniture, rugs, and throw blankets and pillows, muffle sound and prevent noise from echoing through the loft. Hanging lots of artwork through the space will also help absorb sound. Because lofts offer natural industrial features you are free to combine contemporary and classic styles.
