In addition, while the North rim can often be closed to inclement weather in winter months, the South rim often stays open. Once in the park, there are several different options for viewing the majestic sites which include park roads and shuttle buses.

There are a number of activities offered by the park and local outlets. Visitors will find everything from helicopter rides to donkey riding tours down and into the canyon. For most, the free park shuttles which stop at a number of different overlooks and vistas are often the best bet. Although, for the more adventurous, there are a number of activities including white water rafting and others.

Visitors often take note that the area is somewhat more liberal than that of conservative Phoenix and Scottsdale. As a result, there are far many more artists, hippies and Native Americans living and working in this area. When it comes to work, the sky is often the limit as Flagstaff, Scottsdale and Phoenix are all within a somewhat easy commute. As such, regardless of profession, this area often hosts a number of career and job opportunities not found in other areas.
